KNUST to suspend activities on September 18 for Asantehemaa’s final rites

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has announced a complete suspension of academic and administrative work on Thursday, 18 September 2025, as part of arrangements for the final funeral rites of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

The decision follows a directive from the Manhyia Palace requiring schools, businesses, and corporate organisations in Kumasi to halt operations on the day to honour the memory of the late queen mother.

According to a statement issued by the University, all offices, lecture halls, and commercial outlets on campus will remain closed. Management further directed shop owners and service providers within the university community to comply with the order.

Academic and administrative activities are expected to resume on Friday, 19 September 2025.
