The Methodist Church Ghana has held its 2nd edition of the Annual Legal Coordinators Retreat at Wesley Towers in Accra, bringing together legal professionals of the church to reflect on their role in advancing the mission of the church and society.
The Immediate Past Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, The Most Rev. Paul Kwabena Boafo, who addressed the gathering, urged the lawyers to see their work not only as a profession but also as a ministry, reminding them that discipleship is a lifelong pilgrimage that goes beyond regular church attendance. He stressed the importance of daily surrender to God, bearing fruit in all aspects of life, and allowing faith to influence their practice of law.
He further stated that true Christian maturity is not measured by titles or achievements but by obedience and service to God, encouraging them to let compassion rise above competition in their professional work.
Most Rev. Boafo also emphasized the unique role Methodist legal practitioners play both in the church and in society, pointing out that whether they serve in prisons, courts, or public institutions, they are positioned for a purpose — to guide, advise, and provide informed decisions on issues confronting the church and the nation.
He acknowledged that their expertise is crucial in ensuring that matters of governance, land, and other legal disputes are handled with integrity and wisdom, commending the legal team for their dedication and for the immense work they continue to do in service of both the church and society.
The Annual Legal Coordinators Retreat has since become an important platform for Methodist lawyers to blend their professional expertise with their calling as disciples of Christ, ensuring that the church remains firmly guided both spiritually and legally.
