Authorities in Ghana have confirmed that a vehicle transporting Ghanaian tomato merchants was caught in a deadly terrorist assault in Titao, located in northern Burkina Faso.
In an official statement, Interior and National Security Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak revealed that the attack occurred on Saturday, February 14, 2026. The truck, loaded with traders engaged in the tomato trade, was reportedly affected when the assailants struck the area.
While initial reports confirm the vehicle was caught in the violence, authorities say the exact number of casualties and the condition of those on board have not yet been independently verified.
The Minister described the incident as deeply troubling and assured citizens that the government is urgently working to piece together comprehensive details about what transpired.
He further disclosed that Ghana’s diplomatic mission in Burkina Faso has begun active engagement with Burkinabe officials and is coordinating arrangements to visit the attack site. The objective is to obtain firsthand information and determine whether any Ghanaian nationals were injured, killed, or remain missing.
Officials say the situation is being closely tracked, with assurances that the public will receive timely updates once credible and confirmed information becomes available.
