The Fellowship of Methodist Evangelists has elected its first female chairman, Evangelist Mrs. Gladys MaaTee Osabutey, at the just-ended conference in Tarkwa. Mrs. Osabutey, from the Northern Accra Diocese, garnered 144 votes, representing 66.6% of all valid votes cast.
This milestone marks a significant moment for the fellowship, which was established in 1994.
Mrs. Osabutey’s leadership is expected to bring a fresh perspective and new ideas to the fellowship.
Other elected executives include:
– Vice Chairman: Evangelist Professor Francis K. E. Nunoo (122 votes, 56.6%) from the Northern Accra Diocese.
– Public Relations Officer: Evangelist Godfred Sarpong (93 votes, 43.0%) form the Northern Accra Diocese.
– Secretary: Evangelist Ebenezer Fosu Dadzie (210 votes, 97.2%), from Winneba Diocese.
– Assistant Secretary: Chief Arko Korsah (212 votes, 98.1%), Kumasi Diocese.
– Financial Secretary: Evangelist Emmanuel Ayerakwa (213 votes, 98.6%), Sekondi Diocese.
– Treasurer: Evangelist Nathaniel Okrang, Accra.
The conference which brought together about 350 evangelists, demonstrates the fellowship’s commitment to growth and inclusivity.
Mrs. Osabutey’s leadership is expected to inspire and empower other women within the fellowship.
