The Emmanuel Methodist Church, Apirede, on Sunday, August 17, 2025, formally launched its 145th Anniversary Celebration, marking a historic milestone in its faith journey since its establishment in 1880.

The grand event, held at Apirede in the Okere District of the Eastern Region under the Koforidua Diocese, set the tone for a year-long celebration steeped in history, thanksgiving, and vision for the future.
The ceremony was chaired by Mrs. Mary Abena Agyapong, Registrar of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development (UESD), Somanya. In her address, she commended the church leadership and the Anniversary Planning Committee for their dedication and foresight in organizing such a significant celebration.

Delivering the sermon, Rev. Dr. Isaac Kwaku Larbi spoke powerfully on the theme “Knowing the Times.” He highlighted the rich history of Methodism in Apirede, reminding congregants of the resilience of their forebears while urging them to embrace the opportunities and challenges of the present age.
As part of the launch, the official logo, banner, and souvenirs for the 145th Anniversary were unveiled, drawing enthusiastic patronage from members. The celebration, which runs from August 17, 2025, to September 27, 2026, is anchored on the theme:
“145 Years of Methodism in Apirede: Celebrating the Past, Embracing the Present, and Shaping the Future.”

In a symbolic gesture of love and inclusivity, Rev. Dr. Larbi presented specially designed keyholders to elderly members and widows of the church, while Mrs. Agyapong distributed Lacoste shirts to young members of the Singing Band and Choir, encouraging them to continue nurturing their gifts in service to God.

The Resident Minister and Chaplain of NIFA SHS, Rev. Douglas Amoako, extended a heartfelt appeal to members living outside Apirede, as well as friends and well-wishers, to join in the celebrations. He further called for sponsorship and support towards the church’s Legacy Project, which includes the construction of a modern Event Center and Stores—projects intended to serve both the church and the wider community.
The year-long celebration promises a rich array of programs designed not only to honor the church’s enduring heritage but also to chart a visionary course for the future of Methodism in Apirede.
