Dr Bawumia calls for forgiveness and unity within npp after campaign tensions

The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahamudu Bawumia, has appealed to party members to forgive one another for tensions and grievances that surfaced during the recent campaign season, stressing that unity will be vital as the party rebuilds for the future.

Addressing supporters at the National Thanksgiving Service held at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) on Sunday, February 15, 2026, Dr. Bawumia urged party faithful to let go of harsh words and emotional exchanges that may have occurred in the heat of political competition.

“As we gather to give thanks, I humbly ask that we find it in our hearts to forgive one another for some of the unpleasant things said during the campaign,” he stated.

He underscored the need for reconciliation and internal cohesion as the NPP reorganises ahead of the next political cycle.

Dr. Bawumia noted that he has been encouraged by ongoing efforts among party members to reconnect and mend strained relationships after the elections. While acknowledging that the healing process is still ongoing, he commended members for taking meaningful steps toward restoring unity.

He expressed optimism that with continued dialogue and mutual understanding, the party would emerge stronger and more united for the challenges ahead.
