Confidence is high within Ghana’s football leadership as GFA President, Kurt Okraku has expressed strong belief in the Black Stars’ ability to deliver an impressive performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The senior national team is set to make its fifth appearance at the global tournament, scheduled for June, with hopes of progressing beyond the group stage for the first time since 2010. In their last two outings, Ghana failed to advance past the opening round.
Addressing attendees during the launch of a fundraising initiative, the Ghana Football Association president remained optimistic that the team will rewrite its recent history.
He credited the technical team led by Otto Addo for building what he described as strong “intangible assets,” expressing confidence that the squad will rise to the occasion and make the nation proud.
According to Okraku, the Black Stars will approach the tournament with determination and courage, insisting that the team is ready to compete against any opponent and change the narrative surrounding Ghanaian football.
Drawn in Group L, Ghana will face tough competition from England, Croatia, and Panama.
As part of their build-up, the Black Stars are scheduled to take on Austria on March 27 at the Ernst Happel Stadium, before facing Germany on March 30 in Stuttgart.
Preparations will continue in North America with a friendly against Mexico on May 22, before concluding with a final warm-up match against Wales on June 2.
