Black Starlets shine in 4–1 friendly win ahead of U-17 WAFU Championship

The Black Starlets stepped up their preparations for the upcoming WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship with a commanding 4–1 win over Attram Di Visser Academy in a friendly encounter.

The national U-17 team made a strong start, with Michael Awuli and Eric Adu Gyamfi finding the back of the net in the first half to hand the Starlets a two-goal advantage at the break.

After the restart, Gavi Robinho Yao added a third to extend the lead, before Attram Di Visser Academy managed to pull one back. Skipper Joseph Narbi, however, sealed the result with a fine finish to restore the Starlets’ three-goal cushion.

The friendly was part of the team’s ongoing preparations for the 2025 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship, scheduled to take place later this month in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast. The tournament also serves as the qualification route to the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations.

Head Coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum and his technical team are expected to draw valuable lessons from the performance as the squad continues to fine-tune ahead of the competition. The Starlets will play more warm-up matches in the coming days as they aim to represent Ghana strongly on the regional stage.
