Ashanti no longer npp’s safe haven – asiedu nketia

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has declared that the Ashanti Region can no longer be regarded as an exclusive political stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), following the NDC’s stronger showing in the 2024 general elections.

Addressing chiefs, residents, and party faithful at Nsuta Kwamang Beposo on Wednesday during his three-day Ashanti Regional “Thank You Tour,” Mr. Asiedu Nketia described the party’s performance in the region as a clear sign of shifting political dynamics.

He explained that, historically, the NDC had faced difficulties making significant gains in the Ashanti Region, with its activities often concentrated in only a handful of constituencies. However, in the lead-up to the 2024 polls, the party adopted a more aggressive and inclusive strategy, extending its campaign efforts to every district across the region.

According to him, that expanded outreach paid off, enabling the party to broaden its support base and record a notable increase in votes.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia stressed that the NDC’s renewed engagement with the Ashanti Region would not be temporary, but rather a sustained effort built on long-term commitment and continuous interaction with voters.

He also expressed appreciation to traditional authorities and religious bodies in the region, acknowledging that their guidance, prayers, and encouragement played a meaningful role in the party’s improved performance.
