Ablekuma arrest: Police recover fake currency, firearm, and ammunition

The Ghana Police Service, through its National Operations Directorate Surveillance Unit, has apprehended a suspect in Ablekuma, Greater Accra Region, for alleged possession of foreign currency suspected to be counterfeit and an unlicensed firearm.

The suspect has been identified as Josiah Elorm Kwame Amezado. Police reports indicate that the arrest follows intelligence linking the individual, a self-styled fetish priest, to criminal activity and the possession of a firearm, raising concerns over potential risks to local residents.

During a search of the suspect’s premises, authorities recovered a significant number of US dollar bills in one-hundred-dollar denominations, a pair of handcuffs, a black vest, a Kuzey A100 blank pistol, and fifty-eight rounds of 9mm blank ammunition.

Josiah Elorm Kwame Amezado is currently in police custody as investigations continue to verify the authenticity and origin of the currency, as well as to determine the circumstances surrounding the possession of the firearm and other items.

The police have assured the public that efforts are ongoing to ensure the safety of residents and to hold those involved in criminal activity accountable.
