The Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church Ghana, The Most Rev. Prof. Johnson K. Asamoah-Gyadu, has urged Ghanaians to embrace humility, service, and national renewal in his Easter message issued on March 30, 2026.
In the statement, the Presiding Bishop extended warm Easter greetings to President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, and all citizens holding positions of trust in the country. He highlighted that the celebration of Christ’s death and resurrection should inspire citizens to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development.
The message emphasized the importance of humility and service, drawing lessons from Christ’s example of submission and sacrifice. The Presiding Bishop noted that public service should prioritize the welfare of citizens rather than personal gain, stressing the need for national renewal and the abandonment of self-serving decisions that harm collective prosperity.
The Easter message also focused on the transformative power of the resurrection, presenting it as a model for hope, change, and redemption. The Bishop pointed out that where there is despair, hope can rise, and where there is corruption, a change of course is possible.
Acknowledging that this year’s Easter coincided with Ramadan, the Bishop extended greetings to Ghana’s Muslim community for their devotion and observance of the holy month. He reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to interreligious dialogue, peaceful coexistence, and the protection of religious freedom, particularly within educational institutions.
The Presiding Bishop encouraged all Ghanaians to apply the principles of humility, selfless service, and moral integrity in their homes, workplaces, and communities. He concluded the message by wishing all citizens a blessed, joyous, and reflective Easter celebration.
