Two people are reported missing after a canoe carrying six passengers capsized on the Offin River near New Achiase in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region on Thursday morning.
The incident, which occurred around 8:00 a.m., is believed to have happened when the paddler lost control of the vessel while ferrying passengers to their farms.
Confirming the development, Daniel Adu, a former unit committee chairman, explained that four of the passengers were rescued, but two adult men remain unaccounted for.
“All six fell into the river. We managed to rescue four, but the search for the other two is still ongoing,” he said.
Residents of the community have since joined efforts to locate the missing men. Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
