Award-winning dancehall artiste Shatta Wale is calling on Ghanaian youth to throw their support behind the current government, expressing confidence in its ability to deliver positive change.
The outspoken musician believes that the administration of President John Dramani Mahama is well-positioned to implement transformative policies that will directly benefit young people, especially in terms of financial empowerment.
Speaking during his performance at the 2025 GHALCA President’s Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, July 6, Shatta Wale urged the youth to rally behind the government for the remainder of its term.
“From now till the next election, support this government. If you are a youth and you want to see money in your pocket, then support this government, because it has come to put money in your pocket,” he declared to a cheering crowd.
The dancehall icon also took to his official Facebook page to express gratitude to the President and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
“The man who rewards your hard work with a smile and can also terminate your contract if you don’t deliver. Good evening Mr. President. We’re grateful for your commitment to empowering the youth and making us part of your vision,” he posted.
He added, “Thanks to the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, for this great honour and to the Ministry of Youth and Sports for making the Shatta Movement Empire part of this historic celebration.”
Shatta Wale’s energetic performance was one of the highlights of the 2025 President’s Cup, where Kumasi Asante Kotoko stunned rivals Accra Hearts of Oak with a 2-1 comeback win, witnessed by President Mahama himself at the stadium.
