20-year-old man stabbed to death in Kumasi after fight over plastic chair

A 20-year-old man, Kwadwo Bright, has been stabbed to death after a dispute over a plastic chair turned violent at Ashanti New Town in Kumasi.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident happened in the early hours of Thursday, September 4, 2025, after a quarrel between Kwadwo and a friend escalated into a deadly confrontation.

The altercation reportedly began at a snooker game centre, where both young men claimed ownership of the chair. Although the disagreement was initially resolved, the suspect later confronted Kwadwo and stabbed him in the neck.

Kwadwo was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

His mother, Georgina Yeboah, who rushed to the scene after hearing of the stabbing, recounted her anguish:

“I heard people screaming about a young man being stabbed and rushed to the scene, only to find my son in a critical state. Although the matter was reportedly settled, the suspect later attacked and stabbed Kwadwo in the neck, resulting in his death this morning.”

Police are yet to release an official statement, but investigations are underway to apprehend the suspect.
