The Immediate Past Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev. Dr. Paul Kwabena Boafo, has thrown his weight behind Gazette 360, the nationwide public education campaign launched by the Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) to safeguard the integrity of official documents, particularly those relating to marriages and name changes.
Speaking in a video shared by the Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL), the Immediate Past Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church Ghana emphasized that the authenticity of marriages in Ghana is increasingly threatened by fraudulent documentation.
He urged ministers of the Gospel to seek professional guidance from GPCL before officiating any marriage ceremony, stressing that such due diligence was essential to uphold both legal and moral standards.
He further appealed to couples preparing for marriage to verify and obtain clearance on the legitimacy of the venues they intend to use before commencing the process.
This, he said, would prevent individuals from falling victim to fake certificates or unauthorized officiants, and ensure their unions remain legally binding.
The endorsement by the respected church leader is seen as a significant boost to GPCL’s efforts to protect the sanctity of official records and reinforce public confidence in Ghana’s Gazette system.
