The new deal adds two years to his previous contract, which was due to expire in 2028. The club announced the extension after the 29-year-old’s impressive start to the campaign.
Raphinha has scored 19 goals in 13 appearances in all competitions this season, including two goals in Barcelona’s 3-0 UEFA Champions League victory over Aston Villa on Tuesday.
The Brazilian has played a key role in Barcelona’s strong start to the campaign, with the team recording 13 victories in 15 matches.
Raphinha joined Barcelona from Leeds United in 2022 as a right winger but has since established himself as an important attacking figure under manager Hansi Flick.
After delivering impressive performances from the left wing, he has recently taken on a central attacking role following the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres.
Barcelona had initially explored the possibility of signing Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez during the summer transfer window but eventually turned to Raphinha to fill the gap in their attack.
The forward has adapted impressively to the new position, scoring in seven of Barcelona’s first eight fixtures. He also recorded consecutive hat-tricks against Racing Santander and Sevilla before an injury sustained while on international duty with Brazil temporarily sidelined him.
Since returning, he has continued his scoring form, netting against Real Madrid and recording braces in matches against Alavés and Aston Villa.
His performances have strengthened Barcelona’s attacking options as they prepare for Sunday’s LaLiga top-of-the-table clash away to Atlético Madrid.
