VIDEO: Methodist Church Ghana presents items to Ghana Armed Forces

The Presiding Bishop of The Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev. Prof. Johnson Asamoah-Gyadu, has led a presentation of essential supplies to the Ghana Armed Forces as they prepare to deploy a battalion to South Sudan on a peacekeeping mission.

The event took place at the Conference Office, Wesley Towers, where the Presiding Bishop, together with other ministers of the Methodist Church, presented the items to Major Kweku Brobbey Addae-Duah, second-in-command of the battalion, and Rev. Capt. Otuo Acheampong, the unit’s chaplain.

Most Rev. Prof. Asamoah-Gyadu explained that while the donation may not fully cover the battalion’s requirements, it represents a gesture of the Church’s appreciation and solidarity. He added that the supplies are intended to support the soldiers in their mission while also serving as relief for schoolchildren and other vulnerable individuals affected by the conflict in South Sudan.

He added that the Methodist Church has consistently prayed for countries in crisis and for the safety of Ghana’s peacekeepers, assuring the soldiers of the Church’s continuous spiritual backing.

The donated items included:

  • 10,000 customized exercise books
  • 10 cartons of pencils
  • 10 cartons of erasers
  • 20 packs of sharpeners
  • 20 boxes of sanitary pads
  • 6 bales of new children’s clothing
  • 1 carton of rulers

The gesture highlights the Methodist Church Ghana’s commitment to national service and its partnership with the Ghana Armed Forces in promoting peace, hope, and dignity both locally and internationally.
