Manhyia South Member of Parliament, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, has reportedly appeared before the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), accompanied by his lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea.
His appearance comes a day after the Accra High Court issued a warrant authorising EOCO to arrest him as part of an ongoing investigation.
The court also authorised EOCO to search for and seize documents considered relevant to the investigation.
EOCO told the court that it had exhausted reasonable efforts to secure the MP’s voluntary attendance and was concerned that relevant documents could be concealed, altered or destroyed.
The warrant followed an attempted arrest of Mr Baffour Awuah at the Accra High Court on September 23.
EOCO has said the MP was invited twice in February 2026 but failed to honour the invitations.
Mr Baffour Awuah, however, has disputed this account.
He said the invitations were related to his former law firm, Sarkodie Baffour Awuah & Partners, which represented SIC Life Savings & Loans.
According to him, after the matter was referred to the Clerk to Parliament, a representative of the law firm appeared before EOCO on March 4, March 18 and April 30.
He said the representative provided investigators with the requested information, including a written statement.
The investigation concerns alleged unauthorised financial transactions at SIC Life Savings & Loans Company Limited.
The probe is linked to allegations involving financial loss, the dissipation of public funds and money laundering.
The allegations remain under investigation, and Mr Baffour Awuah has not been convicted of any offence.
His appearance before EOCO is the latest development in the case following the attempted arrest at the Accra High Court and the subsequent arrest warrant issued by the court.
