Police in Tamale have launched investigations into the alleged assault, filming, and attempted blackmail of a young woman whose nude video was widely circulated on social media.
According to the victim’s account, she was inside a vehicle with a man when two unidentified men approached them under circumstances that remain unclear.
The woman alleged that the suspects forcibly dragged her out of the vehicle while she was naked and physically assaulted her as they recorded videos of the incident despite her repeated pleas.
She further claimed that the man she had been with later stepped out of the vehicle, spoke briefly with the suspects, and subsequently left the scene.
“I believe he gave them something so they didn’t release his video and they left him,” she alleged.
According to the victim, one of the suspects later managed to obtain her phone number and contacted her, allegedly demanding sexual favours in exchange for deleting the footage.
She claimed the suspect threatened to publicly release the videos if she refused to comply.
The woman further alleged that she later agreed to meet the individual but managed to escape after he allegedly attempted to sexually assault her.
Despite the alleged threats and negotiations, the videos were eventually circulated online, sparking outrage and concern on social media.
The Ghana Police Service has since begun investigations into the matter, with officers reportedly working to identify and arrest the suspects involved.
Meanwhile, reports indicate that the victim allegedly attempted to take her own life following the incident and the intense public humiliation that followed the circulation of the videos.
The case has triggered renewed discussions around cyberbullying, privacy violations, gender-based violence, and the non-consensual sharing of intimate content online.
Authorities are urging the public to refrain from sharing the videos further as investigations continue.
