Ghana’s Black Stars turned on the style with a resounding 5-0 win over the Central African Republic at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes in Morocco, moving within touching distance of qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
From the opening whistle, Otto Addo’s team looked composed, energetic, and in total control, dictating the tempo of play and exposing the weaknesses of a Central African side that never found its rhythm.
The breakthrough came after 20 minutes when defender Mohammed Salisu met a perfectly floated corner from Mohammed Kudus with a powerful header to give Ghana a well-deserved early lead.
The second half began just as brightly for the Black Stars. Thomas Partey, who was instrumental throughout the match, extended the advantage shortly after the restart, slotting home from close range after a neat setup by Jordan Ayew. The Villarreal midfielder’s all-round display was a masterclass in composure and control.
Ghana’s dominance showed no signs of slowing. In the 69th minute, Alexander Djiku added the third goal, rising highest to nod in Ayew’s pinpoint cross. Just moments later, Ayew got on the scoresheet himself, calmly finishing past the visiting goalkeeper to make it 4-0.
Late in the game, substitute Kamaldeen Sulemana sealed the rout with a composed strike — his first-ever goal for the national team — after being set up by Joseph Paintsil.
The emphatic result puts Ghana firmly in command of Group I, with only one fixture remaining — a decisive home encounter against Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Otto Addo’s men will return home brimming with confidence, knowing that even a draw could confirm their place at the 2026 World Cup.
