One dead, several injured in Obuasi–Dunkwa highway crash

A tragic road accident at Sanso Junction on the Obuasi–Dunkwa highway has left one person dead and several others injured.

The incident occurred when a Kia truck, traveling from Wassa Japa to Anhwiankwanta, veered off its lane and collided head-on with a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter minibus carrying 23 passengers.

Police identified the truck driver as Yahaya Abdul Samed, 31, and the Sprinter driver as Ibrahim Yusif, 32, who was en route from Obuasi to Dunkwa.

Emergency responders rushed the injured to the Obuasi Government Hospital and the AGA Health Foundation Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, Mary Boatemaa, 62, a passenger on the Sprinter bus, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has been deposited at the Obuasi Government Hospital mortuary.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the crash.
