The Bono Region has recorded an additional 252 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) following the Gbinyiri land clash, according to the Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Fati Kine-Lam.

Out of the new figures, 250 IDPs are being sheltered in communities within the Tain District, while two have found refuge at Suma-Ahenkro in the Jaman North District.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Mrs. Kine-Lam said the region now hosts about 800 IDPs, including around 500 children, with the Wenchi Municipality accommodating the highest number.

The violent clash, which erupted on Sunday, August 25, 2025, in Gbinyiri in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region, is reported to have claimed at least 30 lives and displaced scores of residents, mostly women and children.

Mrs. Kine-Lam expressed concern over the health conditions of many displaced children and expectant mothers, appealing for increased humanitarian support to meet their urgent needs.
