”Prayer must be a fundamental to our success as a community” – Methodist Presiding Bishop

The Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church Ghana, Most Rev. Prof. J. Kwabena Asamoah-Gyadu, has cited the importance of prayer as the foundation of true success in both the Church and society.

He made this profound statement while preaching at the formal opening service of the 2025 Extended General Purposes Council Meeting (EGPC) and the 190th Anniversary celebrations of the Church, held at the Wesley Methodist Cathedral, Cape Coast Diocese.

In his sermon, the Presiding Bishop stressed that while planning, education, and human effort are necessary, they cannot replace the wisdom, strength, and divine guidance that come through prayer.

“As Methodists, we must understand that prayer is not an option; it is a necessity. A prayerful people are a strong people, and a prayerful Church is an unstoppable force,” he stressed.

He reminded the congregation that the 190-year history of Methodism in Ghana is built on prayer and devotion to God, urging both clergy and the entire members to embrace prayer as Christians.

The Presiding Bishop’s message set the tone for the EGPC sessions, calling the Church to remain steadfast in prayer as it looks to the future.>>
